Spring Classes Begin!

Our spring session is on its way, and we've got a talented new group of youth students.
Take a look!

What do you get when you give high school students a camera?

An experiment in letting the members of our Young People's Company go crazy with a camera and a question: "What does Piven Theatre Workshop mean to you?"

Hilarious and sincere (and I swear we never asked them to be so nice about us!)

And, better yet, they are performing THIS WEEKEND! Shows are Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30, with a Saturday matinee at 2:30. Call the box office at (847) 866-8049 to reserve tickets, or visit the website at www.piventheatre.org.

Transformation

I love this picture. It was taken in an adult acting class here at the Workshop.
To me it says so much. I see sharing, I see excepting, I see hands...

Our hands say a lot about us and how we interact with the world. Our hands are (usually) our first contact with humanity. They feel, they connect, they guard against the unfamiliar, and protect us from danger. They even speak their own language.

The hands in this picture are fearless, joyful, and playful. You can see the connection and energy that is between them. This is what we strive for as actors--to be fearless, joyful, and playful. That kind of connection cannot be fabricated and the feeling is never forgotten. That is what you learn at the Piven Theatre Workshop.
