They discuss the Piven philosophy of acting training, child actors, their own personal connections to the Workshop, and the crucial importance of play in a mediatized culture. It was taken in an adult acting class here at the Workshop.
To me it says so much. I see sharing, I see excepting, I see hands...

Our hands say a lot about us and how we interact with the world. Our hands are (usually) our first contact with humanity. They feel, they connect, they guard against the unfamiliar, and protect us from danger. They even speak their own language.

The hands in this picture are fearless, joyful, and playful. You can see the connection and energy that is between them. This is what we strive for as actors--to be fearless, joyful, and playful. That kind of connection cannot be fabricated and the feeling is never forgotten. That is what you learn at the Piven Theatre Workshop.Piven Theatre Workshophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05946058127077373409noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3047533390741745445.post-7176960130292814052010-01-26T01:15:00.000-06:002010-01-26T01:18:50.085-06:00Joyce Piven and the Chicago Trib
The Chicago Tribune visits with Chicago theater legend Joyce Piven.
